Prediction

I rarely make predictions but I've been making this one to myself for a few months now and I think an article about a 750GB hard drive for only $590 makes me feel safe enough to put this one to print. One terabyte hard drives will be commercially available to the public at a reasonable price by the end of 2006.

If by "reasonable" you mean "no more than $800 internal, no more than $1000 external," I think you've got a pretty safe prediction. (Since the end of 2006 is eight months away, giving enough time for WD and Seagate both to get in the market, I'd actually guess more like $500/$600, but I'm even more reluctant to make predictions than you are.)

I'd say your figures fall into my definition of reasonable. I'd realy like to see $500 for internal though. And, as you said, if we get come competition to happen, its very possible.
